The closest village to Moree is the hamlet of Ashley, a mere 18km north/north-west of Moree along the Carnarvon Highway. Surrounded by cotton and general farming, Ashley is home to the Australian Food and Fibre (AFF) Midkin Cotton Gin (formerly known as Auscott).
